Hero moms enjoy a day of fun and rest at the Breeze 1 Laba Day

Celebrating the heroes of the home, Breeze treated more than 19,000 hardworking moms across the Philippines to a day of rest, games and exciting surprises at the first-ever 1 Laba Day. The leading detergent brand took care of their laundry chores, washing a total of 481,536 clothes, in a series of events held simultaneously in multiple barangays in Metro Manila, Pangasinan, Batangas, Cebu, and Davao.

The Breeze 1 Laba Day celebration gave mommies a day of rest from doing the laundry and let them enjoy bingo games and other surprises.
Celebrity moms and surprise guests, including Sige Moms Christine Bersola-Babao, Gladys Reyes and Dimples Romana, headlined the nationwide events. At Barangay Commonwealth in Quezon City, radio DJ Laila Chikadora also kept the crowd entertained with her witty jokes and led the fun bingo games where moms won bicycles, skateboards, inflatable swimming pools and other toys for their children. These prizes were meant to encourage moms to be Sige Moms who let their kids play and go on exciting adventures.

Breeze Brand Manager Mara Banson (third from left) and Sige Moms Christine Bersola-Babao, Gladys Reyes and Dimples Romana led the nationwide 1 Laba Day celebrations. The event treated mommies to a day of fun and rest, while Breeze took care of their laundry chores, removing even millions of stains in just one wash.
While the moms enjoyed their day off from doing the laundry, Breeze Laba Ladies and Laba Machines, sponsored by campaign partners Electrolux, LG, Whirlpool and White Westinghouse, took care of washing their clothes.

provided the Laba Machines that helped
wash the clothes during the 1 Laba Day.
“We know how hardworking our mommies are, spending as much as three to four hours a day doing the laundry. Today, Breeze is taking care of washing their clothes so they can have some time for themselves and to have fun, as our way of thanking them and recognizing their admirable efforts,” said Mara Banson, Breeze brand manager.

“As part of the Circle of Sige Moms, our job is to encourage mommies to allow their kids to be kids, even if it means getting dirty or having stained clothes,” said Christine. “When we say yes to playing and going on adventures, we say yes to our children’sintellectual, emotional and physical growth.”

“My daughter Callie is very artsy and likes working with her hands. We love baking and often, we’d be covered in icing and food color of every hue,” said Sige Mom Dimples. “But I’m glad I allowed her to do that, because it’s very fulfilling when you see your child achieve great things because you allow them to do their own thing and pursue their passions.”

“Being a mom is a 24/7 job,” added Sige Mom Gladys. “But because we have a dependable partner in Breeze, doing the laundry becomes easier and effortless. We can spend less time on washing clothes and have more time for ourselves and our family.”

Sige Moms Christine Bersola-Babao, Dimples Romana and Gladys Reyes tackle their mommy duties with ease, thanks to Breeze 1 Laba guarantee.

A NATURE’S MASTERPIECE: AGNO’S UMBRELLA ROCK FORMATIONS

Pangasinan is undeniably hallowed by nature’s wonders.

From the mesmerizing view of Mapita Trail of Aguilar and Mt. Zion of Bugallon, to the beautiful Hundred Islands of the City of Alaminos, the caves of Bani, and the pristine white sand beaches and diving sites of Dasol and Bolinao, Pangasinan is a province worth a thousand words of admiration.

Gifted with a vast fishing ground of milkfish or “bangus,” and big fish like tuna and blue marlin, the rustic town of Agno is one of the places should you not miss when visiting Pangasinan. The name Agno was derived from swamp tree called “Agno Casto” that grow abundantly in the locality and is being used to relieve pain and illness. It is characterized by beautiful rolling terrains and rice fields productive in rice, mangoes, vegetables, and root crops and abundant in bamboos and coconuts, all of which you could see on the way to the town proper.

As you near the Poblacion, the town plaza, the road passes along the beautiful Mabini River, which in turn meets with the South China Sea further west. Some of the famous beaches in Agno are Abagatanen beach, a white sand beach, and Baruan beach. And of course, the nearest beach in town, the Sabangan Beach where the Umbrella Rock Formations are situated.

Amazingly carved by nature at the shore of Sabangan beach, they were called the Umbrella Rocks because along the shore, there are big rock formations that resemble gigantic umbrellas where you can rest from the rays of the sun. This picturesque view of the umbrella rocks beside the beach and mountain is the reason why the place is loved by nature lovers and photographers.

Aside from the famous Umbrella Rocks, Sabangan beach also has an old lighthouse wherein you can see the panoramic view of beach and its fern-decorated boulders that appear to be umbrellas. It will take less than hundred steps to the old light house.

How to get there

Public Transport - Take a bus ride from Manila to Bani, Pangasinan, then take a tricycle or jeepney ride to Agno, Pangasinan or direct bus ride  from Manila to Agno, Pangasinan (limited trips only for Five Star Bus/Dagupan Bus Co.) Travel time is about 5 to 6 hours.

The Coffee Republic: Affordability and delectability mixed in a cup

Uniqueness always makes you stand out; it makes you defined in a way that you’ll be remembered even time goes by.

This may be the secret of The Coffee Republic which has been continually brewing for seven aromatic years and counting in the coffee industry, making it one of the oldest coffee shops in the province. Indeed, its one of a kind setting and extraordinary food choices make the place stand out even if a lot of  cozier coffee and tea shops sprouted all over the province like mushrooms.

One of the noticeable differences of the shop among others is the look itself. Unlike other coffee shops that have modern interior, The Coffee Republic has the fiesta look. The kubo like setting plus the colorful banderitas hanging from the ceiling gives you a barrio fiesta feeling that is relaxing. Add to that the soft music playing while dining.

Aside from the typical coffee concoctions, The Coffee Republic has a variety of unique coffee combinations from hot to cold. One of these is Coffee Chips Frappe. The coffee blends well with chocolate. The drink is not too sweet and really tastes good. Coffee Chips Frappe is highly recommended! The aroma itself feels like you’re in heaven.

Usually, coffee shops offer snacks only like cakes and pastries. The Coffee Republic chooses to be different; it serves diners with rice meals that are absolutely flavorful and salivating. I’m telling you, guys, their meals are a must try.

Their sisig recipes are delightful and undeniably delicious. The moist dishes do not make them boring to eat and will give you a creamy texture once a spoonful touches your tongue.

Aside from these unique offerings, The Coffee Republic also serves clubhouse sandwich and chicken fingers paired with potato fries with the skin intact. Isn’t it unique?! The owners said they don’t peel off the skin because of the nutrients it contains.

Another thing that makes this coffee shop different from others is their pricing. You don’t need to pay high to experience the relaxing fiesta ambience and the mouthwatering food of the shop because their rates are really reasonable. You can have a cup of coffee for as low as P35.00. And for P80.00, you can feast on the place’s famed sisig which is good for 2-3 persons. The clubhouse sandwich, on the other hand, costsP60.00 while a platter of chicken fingers is P80.00—both good for 2-3 persons.

If you want to try how extraordinary The Coffee Republic is, visit it in Poblacion, Mangaldan, Pangasinan, a few steps from the municipal hall.

For reservations and inquiries, and to avail of their catering services, contact The Coffee Republic through the following numbers: 0915-443-5320, 0932-652-2927, 0908-381-222

Pilgrimage sites to visit this holy week in Pangasinan

Being a pre-dominantly Catholic country, the Philippines holds lots of religious activities, one of which is the observance of Christ’s passion, death, and resurrection.

Lenten season or Holy week is one of the most sacred times for Catholics. This is the time that everyone performs sacrifices and religious vows through different traditions like going to different pilgrimage sites.

In Pangasinan there are various pilgrimage sites to visit where everyone can spend holy week.

Listed are the most popular:

Natividad Sky Plaza

Natividad Sky Plaza is a park built on top of a hill beside the Caraballo Mountains in Bachelor East Natividad, Pangasinan.

A chapel and a 287-step concrete stairway leads to a grotto of the Virgin Mary and a 30-foot Holy Cross on near the hilltop.

From the cross is a winding trail leading to the mountaintop, where a 40-foot statue of Christ the Redeemer, called “Ayat ni Apo Jesus” (God’s Love) stands.
Jesus Christ’s fiberglass statue, which was erected in June last year, is 1,108 meters above sea level, overlooking the town
Bani Calvary Hill

One of the most popular tourist attractions in Bani, Pangasinan especially during the Lenten Season is their version of Calvary Hill. The said place has a 1,000-step “Via Crusis” that leads to a gigantic cross.

The cross is perched on a plateau overlooking the West Philippine Sea. Bani’s Calvary hill also has other structures to be used for other religious activities on the site.

Mt. Zion Pilgrimage Mountain

Located in Brgy. Laguit Padilla, Bugallon, Mt. Zion Pilgrimage Mountain is a 52-hectare religious site that holds structures for pilgrims to perform their Lenten traditions.

Aside from the retreat house and the chapel, the said pilgrimage site’s life-size statues portraying the Passion and Death of Christ are the reason why it is one of the most visited sites in the province during the Lenten season.
